Heat Pumps – An overview

A heat pump provides heating and hot water by extracting heat from the air, ground or a water source. It’s a sustainable, environmentally friendly heating solution for homes.

A heat pump can replace a gas boiler and simply be connected straight into the existing central heating system. This in itself will reduce any environmental impact and lower energy consumption and bills. If a home is heated by oil, LPG or electricity, running costs could be significantly lowered - for every kilowatt of electricity a Monobloc uses, it generates between 3 – 4 kilowatts of renewable heat from the air – 300 – 400% efficiency.

The Daikin Altherma high temperature heat pump provides eco-friendly heating and energy savings, and customers don't need to replace their whole heating system to achieve it.

This air-to-water heat pump delivers heating, hot water and optional cooling – and uses less energy to do it making it very cost effective.

How does it work?

The compact indoor unit and sleek outdoor unit, delivers water temperatures of up to 70oC, so it’s fully compatible with existing radiators that require a higher temperature flow. It offers year-round efficiency – even in the coldest temperatures.

Altherma low temperature monobloc heat pumps

This is Daikin’s most compact solution, ideal for where space is at a premium. The Daikin Altherma Monobloc packs maximum performance into one compact outdoor unit.

This simple system has a single outdoor unit and no indoor unit, with only water pipes running indoors from the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit combines everything needed in one quiet, neat system. Although small, it is highly efficient; A++ efficiency rating for its heating performance, and up to A+++ on hot water.

Altherma Hybrid Heat Pumps

The perfect combination of heat pump with gas condenser boiler technology, allowing customers to increase energy efficiency without replacing an entire system.

Daikin Altherma hybrid heat pumps combine renewable air-to-water heat pump technology with a gas condensing boiler. Its smart programming helps to save up to 35% more energy than a traditional condensing boiler by automatically determining the most economically and energy efficient combination based on energy prices, outdoor temperatures and indoor heat capacity.

How does it work?

The Daikin Altherma Hybrid heat pump system automatically selects the most efficient mode of operation, choosing between heat pump, gas boiler and hybrid modes. It means during the colder months, if provides the reassurance that the gas boiler can boost heating quickly and effectively when needed. During the warmer seasons, peak performance with minimum running costs are achieved.

The sleek design of its wall mounted indoor unit has been designed to blend with other household appliances. It can also be connected to a stainless steel domestic hot water cylinder to deliver hot water for all household needs.

The Daikin Altherma low temperature system offers the ultimate in quiet home heating and optional cooling capabilities, for a fully climate-controlled home.

There’s also the option to connect the Daikin Altherma low temperature wall mounted unit to a hot water cylinder to provide a highly efficient supply of hot water. This low-maintenance, space-saving solution is designed to fit into any modern property.

Altherma low temperature heat pump integrated floor unit

The Daikin Altherma low temperature heat pump is also available with a floor standing indoor unit that includes an integrated hot water cylinder. With a small footprint requiring just 600 × 600 mm floor space, this is ideal for homes without the space for a separate hot water cylinder.

How does it work

Combining a low temperature heat pump with a hot water tank of either 180 litre or 230 litre capacities, the integrated floor-standing option offers efficient heating and cooling, as well as instant hot water for the whole family. With the same contemporary style as the wall-mounted model, the floor unit is designed to integrate with existing home fittings

Domestic hot water cylinders

Daikin hot water cylinders are an example of some of the most innovative, sustainable solutions available.

Designed as the perfect partner to Altherma heat pump systems, all of Daikin’s hot water cylinders include the same best-in-class technology standards. Each cylinder comes fitted with a 3 kW immersion heater as standard, for water that can be heated from 10oC to 50oC in just 60 minutes. This gives customers the highest levels of comfort, energy efficiency and reliability.
