Among its many features, Daikin Sky Air outdoor units have a night setting mode that reduces the sound pressure. The quiet mode is particularly useful for areas where noise control matters, such as in suburban areas, or leisure, hotel or health care sector facilities.
Capacity and sound pressure changes
Each low noise setting affects the sound pressure and the capacity of the outdoor unit. A simulation revealed these amended capacities and sound pressure levels (in dB(A):
How to set the Quiet Mode
The quiet mode can be enabled either via the outdoor unit PCB, or by using a demand adaptor kit, which gives the advantage of being able to extend the quiet mode up to 24 hours or to a lower value time period if required.
Outdoor PCB:
Setting 2.00:
1: Automatic low noise OFF
2: Automatic low noise ON (default off)
Setting 2.01:
1: Capacity priority setting OFF
2: Capacity priority setting ON
Setting 2.03:
1: LN level 1 between 22:00 – 6:00
2: LN level 1 between 22:00 – 8:00
3: LN level 2 between 22:00 – 6:00
4: LN level 2 between 22:00 – 8:00 (factory setting)
5: LN level 2 between 20:00 – 8:00
6: LN level 3 between 22:00 – 8:00
7: LN level 3 between 20:00 – 8:00
The time is indicative as this counting works on the assumption that the hottest point of the day occurs at 14:00. Then the counter starts running to activate the LN.
Demand Adaptor Kit
The Sky Air Demand Adaptor Kit (Part No. KRP58M5) is linked to the COM contact on terminal X801M and limited to enabling LN3 only when the contact is closed.
Alternatively, this function can be combined with an external timer by connecting to the COM and LNOP contact allowing for any time period to be set. When this function is enabled the LN level 3 time period is overwritten.
To secure the demand adaptor kit to the outdoor unit, a mounting plate (Part No. EKMKSA2) is needed.
